Este trabalho se insere na linha de pesquisa da Área de Concentração de Políticas de Educação e Sistemas Educativos, circunscrita ao Programa de Pós-Graduação em Educação da Universidade Estadual de Campinas. Trata-se de uma pesquisa de cunho qualitativo, cujo objetivo é analisar a política educacional implementada na rede estadual de ensino do Estado de São Paulo no período de 1995-2002, apontando as possibilidades e os limites do trabalho do supervisor de ensino no Estado de São Paulo no fortalecimento dos diferentes espaços democráticos na escola pública e os reflexos da Reforma do Estado no trabalho do supervisor de ensino durante a gestão de Mário Covas/Alckmin. Investiga-se o modo como supervisores de ensino do sistema público do Estado de São Paulo percebem e vivenciam a realidade do seu trabalho junto às escolas. Analisa-se a supervisão de ensino para melhor compreender o processo de organização da categoria dos supervisores educacionais e suas relações com o trabalho, retornando-se às raízes históricas, filosóficas e legais que a originaram. A cultura de participação na escola foca a tensão, a correlação de forças e as contradições entre o que se escreve e o que se faz, bem como a revitalização da função política do supervisor de ensino no fortalecimento do espaço democrático na escola pública. A partir de pesquisa qualitativa em duas escolas públicas estaduais da região bragantina apontam-se os limites e possibilidades da gestão democrática bem como a contribuição do supervisor de ensino no fortalecimento dos espaços democráticos na escola pública...

Our research composes one of various subprojects on development in the project Public Politics and Childhood Education in Goiás: history, conceptions, projects and practical, of the Studies and Researches of Childhood Education group, on the research line Teaching Formation and Professionalization for the concession of the doctor s degree on the research program of the Education Faculty, in the Federal University of Goiás. We investigate the pedagogical coordination at the childhood education, trying to understand the work and the constitution of the professional identities of the pedagogical coordinators on the Municipal Centers of Childhood Education in Goiânia. We adopt the principle that the pedagogical coordination is one dimension in the administration, responsible for the collective joint of pedagogical and political project as well as of learning and teaching process, on a democratic perspective. On the basis of dialectical materialist method, we developed one theoretical research, documental and empirical, with the participation of ninety and three pedagogical coordinators, on seventy and six childhood educational centers, in the years of 2005 and 2006. The current study investigated the effects of job satisfaction and organizational commitment on organizational citizenship behavior and turnover intentions. The study also examined the effect of organizational citizenship behavior on turnover intentions. Frontline employees working in five-star hotels in North Cyprus were selected as a sample. The result of multiple regression analyses revealed that job satisfaction is positively related to organizational citizenship behavior and negatively related to turnover intentions. Affective organizational commitment was found to be positively related to organizational citizenship behavior. However, the study found no significant relationship between organizational commitment and turnover intentions. Furthermore, organizational citizenship behavior was negatively associated with turnover intentions. The study provides discussion and avenues for future research.

The purpose of this study was to explore the impact of the Florida State-mandated Basic Skills Exit Tests (BSET) on the effectiveness of remedial instruction programs to adequately serve the academically underprepared student population. The primary research question concerned whether the introduction of the BSET has resulted in remedial completers who are better prepared for college-level coursework. This study consisted of an ex post facto research design to examine the impact of the BSET on student readiness for subsequent college-level coursework at Miami- Dade Community College. Two way analysis of variance was used to compare the performance of remedial and college-ready students before and after the introduction of the BSET requirement. Chi-square analysis was used to explore changes in the proportion of students completing and passing remedial courses. Finally, correlation analysis was used to explore the utility of the BSET in predicting subsequent college-level course performance. Differences based on subject area and race/ethnicity were explored.

This is a historical case study on school desegregation and power in Broward County, Florida from 1970 to 1998. The purpose of this study is to describe, explain and analyze types of power used by the School Board of Broward County, Florida and community activists, in their efforts to influence desegregation decisions from 1970 to 1998. In addition, this study explains who benefited and who won from the School Board's desegregation decisions and who governed those decisions? A historical case study approach was used as the method for conducting this study. Data sources included 11 interviews of individuals who were involved in school desegregation issues as either School Board officials or community activists and 10 archival data sources. The theoretical models of Russell, Galbraith, Wartenberg and Domhoff were used to determine the different types of power techniques used by School Board officials and community activists and to answer the questions: who benefited and who won from the School Board's desegregation decisions and who governed those policies and practices? The primary beneficiaries of school desegregation policies and practices in Broward County were: white, affluent communities and the builders, developers, realtors and other businesses in the western suburban communities. All of the data sources indicated that the black community did not benefit from the School Board's desegregation policies. The primary power techniques used by School Board officials to influence desegregation policies and practices was "power over opinions" and compensation. These power techniques were manifested by the School Board publicly disputing the allegations raised by community activists and by compensating those who supported and promoted the School Board's desegregation policies and practices. The power techniques primarily used by community activists were coercive force and "power over opinions." They effectively used these power techniques to change the School Board's policies and practices they felt were detrimental to black children and the black community. This study examines the educational persistence of women of African descent (WOAD) in pursuit of a doctorate degree at universities in the southeastern United States. WOAD are women of African ancestry born outside the African continent. These women are heirs to an inner dogged determination and spirit to survive despite all odds (Pulliam, 2003, p. 337).This study used Ellis’s (1997) Three Stages for Graduate Student Development as the conceptual framework to examine the persistent strategies used by these women to persist to the completion of their studies.

Afin de doter la profession infirmière de chefs de file capables de faire face aux changements, plusieurs pays ont conçu des programmes de formation de deuxième cycle en administration des services de soins infirmiers. Plusieurs programmes sont développés en ce sens dont peu ou prou sont évalués. Plusieurs auteurs croient que l’évaluation de ces programmes permettrait de mieux apprécier l’atteinte des objectifs pédagogiques et ultérieurement, d’améliorer la formation et les pratiques de gestion. Afin de contribuer à ce projet, la présente étude vise à évaluer le programme de formation Administration et enseignement de l'École nationale de développement sanitaire et social (ENDSS) du Sénégal.
