Along the week from Jul 24th to 30th, a series of training courses and dissemination activities on Open Access and the DSpace@ScienceUofK pilot Institutional Repository (IR) were held at the University of Khartoum (U of K) in the framework of the eIFL.net-funded OASCIR Project (Open Access Scientific Institutional Repository). OASCIR is a 10-month project aiming to promote awareness of Open Access-related issues among the U of K researchers and librarians. OASCIR started in March 2011 with the objective of setting up a DSpace-based pilot Institutional Repository (IR) for the Faculty of Science in the first place, then carrying out an Open Access advocacy campaign once the IR was running. Once the DSpace@ScienceUofK repository was released for the University of Khartoum IP address range on July 4th, two training courses on Open Access and the IR management were scheduled for the end of July, the first one mainly oriented to U of K librarians to be held on Jul 24-25th at the Electronic Library Computer Lab and the second, more researcher-focused one, to be carried out on Jul 27-28th at the Faculty of Science Old Lecture Theatre (OLT).; eIFL.net, Carlos III University Madrid; 7 pages, 5 photos

Os resultados da investigação apontam para as relações ambíguas presentes no processo de trabalho dos docentes, expressando sentimentos de prazer e sofrimento decorrentes dessa prática e evidenciando as condições e a organização do trabalho como elementos que podem potencializar tais sentimentos no cotidiano do trabalho do enfermeiro naquelas instituições.; This is an exploratory and descriptive qualitative approach, which includes feelings that go through the work process of nurses in three private universities in the city of São Paulo, revealing rich experiences of know-how meanings in the teaching practice.

The theoretical framework was the "Civilizing Process" of Norbert Elias. The primary sources were the official documents of the Central Archive of the Nursing Course Coordination Council and Federal University of Alagoas, the documents resulting from the transcription of the interviews of teachers and their personal files. Secondary sources were written by authors who discuss the history of Brazil and Alagoas. To collect the testimonials we used the Oral History theme through a semistructured interview. All subjects signed an informed consent and the project was approved by CEPE / UFAL (No. 23065.015735/2011-40 process). 13 people were interviewed and data analysis did understand that the rearrangement of teachers in the course contributed to the professional identity of students from the first group...

This paper reviews research related to four recent business management models of charismatic and inspirational leadership. It goes on to select the key traits and behaviors of these leadership models for the workplace environment and use them as the foundation of a model for a loving faculty member. Like the business leader, the devoted, caring professor leads his engineering students in their quest for knowledge, growth and learning. Based upon peer-reviewed leadership research which reports the value and benefits of a caring, mentoring and loving leader in the business world, the loving professor will also be successful in meeting the learning needs of students in the 21st century classroom. As faculty transition from the ways of old - the authoritarian, dictator, Machiavellian ways of teaching - they must search within themselves and ask, ?How should I act so as to achieve the rank of loving professor? Which behaviors, activities and actions will allow me to successfully lead my students and best promote their learning??

As faculty continue to develop inventions, software, biological specimens, coursework and other IP, it is important that all parties involved understand to whom the “rights” of the IP belong. It is further necessary that the IP policy be written in such a manner that it can be clearly understood and neither discourages nor inhibits the professional work and scholarship of the faculty. In addition, the policy needs to be clearer regarding applicability. For example, it is unclear whether this policy pertains to employees doing work independently. In addition it is unclear whether the policy covers work developed through myCourses, online learning, while on sabbatical, or using FEAD money. Also, if it does cover these materials, it is unclear how exactly they are covered.

Theology has been an integral part of the University of Pretoria since its inception and Church History has been taught since the establishment of the Faculty of Theology in 1917. At that time, the Presbyterian Church of South Africa and the Nederduitsch Hervormde Kerk van Afrika (NHK) were partners. The Presbyterian link with the Faculty ceased in 1933. From 1938 the Nederduits Gereformeerde Kerk (NGK) joined the NHK and this remained the situation until 2002 when the Uniting Presbyterian Church of Southern Africa re-established its links with the Faculty. At the present time, the Department of Church History and Church Polity is staffed by representatives of all three partner churches.
